Once Upon a Four Year Old Memory: 2009

Huddled around the door.
Our four-year-old faces puzzled, yet excited,
We line up two by two,
The sunlight bursting through
The cracks of the door.
Before we can step out into
The free, flowing, fresh air
We must first listen to the oh-so-simple directions.
As the words escape the mouth of our preschool teacher,
They fly in one ear and out the other.
As we each grab our own pair of kiddy scissors,
We unknowingly hold them incorrectly.
As the door opens
We eagerly follow the leader
To the flower garden,
Which we imagine as a great field of
Oranges, purples, blues, reds, and greens.
As our four-year-old souls silently soak in
Nature’s beauty,
We wait before we can even think of
Cutting Mother Nature’s precious gift
Right from underneath her.
The aroma around us is destroyed!
Somehow we all managed to all hold
Our scissors wrong.
As quickly as possible, we try to repatch
The disturbed peace.
We are then taught the correct way
To hold our itty-bitty scissors.
Ashamed, with rosy cheek faces,
We try to cover our mistake.
As directed, we place the
Unsharpened blade in the center
Of our undersized, four-year-old palm.
Suddenly, it’s silent, all that is heard
Is the whooshing of the wind and the
Sweet savory tune of the birds.
One by one we take a step closer,
With care we snip the bud
From the flower and disconnect it from the stem.
Huddled together,
Back on the “magic carpet”
We sit in a circle and wait,
Our teacher.
She’s back- carrying a big, clear,
Sparkling vase.
It’s placed directly in the circle’s center.
After a spring song and a dance,
Our flowers find themselves reunited again,
Surrounded by the
Love and nourishment
Given
to them by,
The four year olds.

Only In So Many Words -2007

Quotes, quotes are everywhere, pretty much anything a person says can be considered a quote. It just depends how you may interpret it and keep it alive. My quotes are generally about life, healing, cause, angels, a house of many windows, and friends. To me these quotes are inspiring and help other to push on and not give up. For me whenever I feel down or sick, a good quotes is good to hear. I also like to write cards with quotes to help others too. Quotes are written by everyday people and it’s nice to share them with others. And some quotes are just fun to say or watch others say them in a movie. Quotes are just excellent and fantastic in general.
Most people think you need a lot of complex pages of writing to get a point across, but that's not true at all, you can get it through with just a simple quote. All of these have their own specific meaning and I think they were meant to inspire others. Quotes are nice to hear because they are from a real person and their opinion of things. Yes, sometimes people don’t always get along with others or they might not have the same opinion. On, the other hand there are also people that get along great and have the exact same opinion and sometimes it can even be a little creepy, but there must be someone out there that agrees with you. There are billions of people out in this world and they may or may not have the same opinion, but everyone’s opinion matters. And quotes can let you express that. Even if people agree with you or not, they may use something you said. For instance, look at Martin Luther King Jr. he has his quotes said all the time. And then there are people like say Hitler, people say his quotes too, but in most cases they use it against him. Always be careful what you say, some people may use a quote or even your own quote against you and that’s never a good thing. But, sometimes people will remind you by saying something that you may have said something a long time ago and it helps to remind you by saying what you said. And then all the memories come rushing back to you.
` All these quotes have a meaning to me personally. In the spring at ballet, our class performed a modern piece; we had been working hard on it really hard. And we couldn’t think of a title, we were thinking of really funny, goofy titles, but our dance was actually kind of sad. It was about a person who was alone and they would just looking around at the world and notice what was going on, but feeling awkward and shy about it. We were so stumped, we were actually starting to freak out a little, because it was so close to show time and we didn’t even have a title. Then all of a sudden Ms. Faulkner, our modern teacher come in with this fabulous quote, she reads it to us, “The body is a house of may winder: there we all sit, showing ourselves and crying on the passers-by to come and love us” by Robert Louis Stevenson. We were all so amazed at this beautiful quote. At first we were all silent and dumfounded because it took us a minute to connect it to our dance because there are parts were we are helping her and watching her. After a few minutes of awkward silence we started to aww and say “Wow, this is perfect.” For me I absolutely fell in love with this quotes, it’s so intense and really deep.
When I was little, my dad used to always say “Angels have wings because they take themselves lightly,” I don’t why I just automatically feel in love with it when I was a little girl and it stayed with me ever since and I’m 15. It totally makes sense, angels are people that have passed away, and dying seems tough and harsh and now after something to brutal has happened, they are free, so careless they float.
“A friend is a gift you give yourself” by Robert Louis Stevenson. This also makes a lot of sense, the point of having a friend is to make you happy and if someone is being rude to you then you aren't really giving yourself a good gift to make yourself happy. But, it can also go the other way too, if you are being mean to others, why would they want to put themselves through that and make them selves miserable?
“The greatest healing power is friendship and love”, “There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something tomorrow”, ”If thoughts alone could bring good health, our wishes would make you well.” These are all written by anonymous people. A couple years ago I found out my 2nd uncle had lung cancer from smoking. When my brother and I were little, he used to take us to train and car parks and show us around. When my dad told me he was sick, I went online and found these wonderful quotes and I put them in a card. I thought they were very inspiring and had a good meaning behind them and I also that they might cheer him up. I know I would be sad if I found out I had cancer and so me these quotes are very true. But, a wish is just a wish and everyone wishes their wishes would come true, but they don’t and we live on.
And my favorite quote of all time is “ Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what your gonna get” from the movie Forrest Gump. I have seen that movie so many times, and I never get tired of it. And I defiantly repeat lines from that movie all the time. This is probably what I say the most. It’s so true; you never know what life is going to throw at you. It could be good or it could be bad, but no matter what you should appreciate it. Supposedly things happen for a reason. And if anyone gets random things thrown at him, it’s Forrest Gump and no matter what he always thinks of the good side of it. If we were all like Forrest this world would be so awesome!

falling thoughts

..someday it might be hard to say,
"I always had faith in you"
..no leap yet in this cycle..
The system is symptom of
too much expectation climaxing,
enforcing acceptance as response
abilities to adapt laptops to dreams,
appreciating conceptual freedom,
forgive so you don't have to forget it.
