I try not to TELL my kids to make their beds as much as demonstrate patterns of hygienic care. Yesterday I pointed out to my daughter how she could tell if I had put on her top sheet, because my behavioral integrity is to always put the pattern down with the widest hem up (to fold back over the comforter.) If I do it for her today, at least I didn't have to wash the sheets!
